%b (pronounced "percent b") is derived from the formula for stochastics and shows where price is in relation to the bands. %b equals 1 at the upper band and 0 at the lower band. Writing upperBB for the upper Bollinger Band, lowerBB for the lower Bollinger Band, and last for the last (price) value: %B represents the location of the input price in relationship to upper Bollinger band & lower Bollinger band. This is a useful indicator for overbought/oversold identification. There are 7 basic relationships that can be quantified: %B > 100: The input price is above the upper band %B = 100: The input price is exactly on the upper band Bollinger Bands %B. Bollinger bands %B translates a portion of the price information in Bollinger bands into one line rather than the multiple bands you see with the standard indicator. Percent B is intended to show where price is relative to each band. %B is calculated as: (Price – Lower Band) / (Upper Band – Lower Band) Bollinger Band This is Bollinger Bands %b indicator for MetaTrader 5. - Free download of the 'Bollinger Percent B' indicator by 'pumper' for MetaTrader 5 in the MQL5 Code Base, 2014.05.29

02.10.2016 Bollinger Bands work best when the middle band is chosen to reflect the intermediate-term trend, so that trend information is combined with relative price level data. Soon the Bollinger Bands had company, I created %b, an indicator that depicted where price was in relation to the bands, and then I added BandWidth to depict how wide the bands were as a function of the middle band. 19.10.2016 02.10.2016 04.10.2016 01.10.2016

%B = (Price - Lower Band)/ (Upper Band - Lower Band) The default setting for %B is based on the default setting for Bollinger Bands (20,2). The bands are set 2 standard deviations above and below the 20-day simple moving average, which is also the middle band. Security price is the close or the last trade.

Suggested filter: (a) take only trade when there is large enough distance (potential profit) between entry price and opposite outer band of Bollinger Band; (b) take only trade when price still needs to travel across the middle Bollinger Band line before it can reach the other end (similar to giving you more distance and potential profit).

%b (Percent b) %b >= 1: Close above the upper Bollinger Band. %b = 0: Close below the lower Bollinger Band. Back into bands(1): Closed outside the upper band yesterday, closed inside today. Back into bands(0): Closed outside the lower band yesterday, closed inside today. BandWidth. BandWidth measures the width of the Bollinger Bands.

If the closing price is above the upper Bollinger Band, Percent B would be greater than 100. If the closing price is equal to the moving average, Percent B is 50 percent. If the closing price is equal to the lower Bollinger Band, Percent B would be zero. If the closing price is below the lower band, Percent B would be negative. The default setting for % B is based on the default settings for Bollinger bands (20,2). % B is used in order to identify overbought and oversold conditions. As with the majority of momentum oscillators, a trader should look for short-term oversold conditions, when the intermediate-term trend is a bull one. The default setting for Bollinger %b and Band Width is a 20-Day simple moving average with bands drawn at 2 standard deviations. See Indicator Panel for directions on how to set up an indicator — and Edit Indicator Settings to change the settings.
